| Susan Haire concentrates almost entirely on painting exhibitions (which take the form of an inter-related body of work) for specific gallery spaces (and sometimes other spaces, e.g. churches), choosing a title before she begins. At least one of these installations is completed and exhibited as a solo show each year. Her paintings are unplanned and chance-based and she works on the floor on watercolour paper on MDF and on canvas. Throwing, flicking, bleeding and squirting paint open up possibilities and she pours paint wet-on-wet using gravity and water tension and a hair dryer. In building up many transparent layers over a period of time the work gradually comes together under its title as a whole installation. | ||||||||||||||||||

| In addition to viewing Susan's paintings it is possible to hear sound clips and read poetry on this website both on the Exhibitions pages and the Collaboration pages. Susan has collaborated in all her exhibitions with music recitals, poetry readings, theatre productions and improvisation taking place amongst the paintings. Recordings of music written in response to the paintings have played throughout the exhibitions and often poetry has accompanied the paintings. | ||||||||||||||||||
