Tuesday 16 April, 6.00pm Poetry Reading: L Hythe ~ An innovative poem about layers of place and the movement of language in South London. Written and read by Julius Hinks. ~ Admission free Wednesday 17 April, 7.30pm Recital: Harp, Viola and Two Violins ~ Composer and harp player Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian joins extraordinary viola player Max Baillie and violinists Ellie Fagg and Tom Norris for a concert of eclectic sounds, mixing baroque music with brand new works and improvisation. ~ Tickets on the door: £10/£8 concessions/£6 students . Thursday 18 April, 7.30pm Recital: Solo flute ~ Programme to include, Syrinx Debussy, Voice Takemitsu, Tsuru-no-Sugomori Offermans, Cassandra's Dream Song Ferneyhough and Schrift 1.2 Lang. Jenni Hogan is a flautist specialising in contemporary and improvised music. During an exciting 2012 and 2013 she premiered and recorded the music of Gwyn Pritchard and Ken Paige, performed a concerto, completed her Masters (with distinction) whilst studying with Anna Noakes (supported by TCM trust), with whom she was recently honoured to perform in a duo. Jenni attended the Darmstadt International Summer School for New Music in 2012, and was privileged to work with flautist Eva Furrer and composers Dai Fujikura and Georges Aperghis. Jenni uses verbal explanations, thoughtful repertoire choices and unusual performance decisions to create concerts which are accessible to a wide audience. ~ Tickets on the door: £10/£8 concessions/£6 students. Saturday 20 April, 7.30pm Torrents & Shallow Pools ~ Moving music & sound, poetry & words Danny Kingshill, cello, voice and Helen Moore, voice with poetry by Jane Kingshill. ~ Voluntary contribution Sunday 21 April, 7.3pm Recital: Violin and cello ~ Father and son duo Alexander and Max Baillie return to The Cello Factory with a new programme of violin and cello music: Bartok Duets for violin and cello (selections), Mozart Sonata Kv 576 (arranged for violin and cello), Ravel Duo, selections of solo Bach (Max), Honegger Sonatine for violin and cello, Martinu Duo no 1. ~ Tickets on the door: £10/£8 concessions/£6 students Tuesday 23 April, 5.00pm INCA: Grand Finale! ~ INCA, a Native South American Folk Ensemble performs ethnic song and dance music from Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela and down the Andes through Peru, Bolivia and Chile. This programme will be a mixture of haunting and evocative melodies and protest songs alongside exhilarating tunes written for fiestas and celebrations. Inca comprises the UK's most respected and versatile musicians, all virtuoso's in their field! Anna Noakes, Julie Murray, Grant MacFarlane Dowse and Gary Kettel, all instrumentalists of choice for film composers such as James Horner, John Williams, Howard Shore, David Arnold and Ennio Morricone who can be heard on soundtracks including James Bond, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Les Mis etc. The ensemble plays a fascinating variety of instruments including the charango (small guitar made from the shell of the back of an armadillo), western and ethnic flutes/panpipes, guitars/Chilean guitarron alongside a huge array of Latin percussion.
